Usually, we advise against buying vintage scooters that have been "restored" in Vietnam. There are a number of reasons, one of the biggest being that putting a fresh coat of paint and chrome trim on a seriously abused machine isn't really restoring anything. That said, we would be the first to encourage someone if they wanted to ride a scoot in Vietnam (or any other country for that matter).
The weblog New Mandala is a chronicled diary of Southeastern Asia and its cultural happenings. Its a nice read, and they just happened, in this particular instance, follow a club of vintage Vespa riders as they road from Laos to Vietnam! The pictures are must-see! Check it out here.
